Our Family History in the Art Business
SINCE 1967 OUR FAMILY HAS OFFERED EXCEPTIONAL ARTWORK FROM LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS.
In 1967 the family patriarch, Pat James, opened the first James family gallery on Long Island, New York.
“Over the years, our family’s gallery became synonymous with quality, fine taste and exceptional service. Our original gallery was in a prime location for so many decades. Once it was Pat’s time to retire we looked at alternate locations on the east coast, for the longevity of the family business, and we found Richmond to be the best next location for the gallery”.
In 2001 the founder’s son, Chris James, moved the family business to Richmond, Virginia.
“Richmond’s diverse culture serves as a great melting pot of styles, from very traditional, to highly contemporary, and in between is a moderate transitional. Richmond’s tastes are very broad and allows us to offer a wonderful variety of artwork.”
In 2011, the gallery expanded into a larger Richmond location across the street from the Short Pump mall, into Shoppes at Westgate.
“In the last 15+ years in Richmond we have been surprised at how versatile our Richmond collectors are. Luckily the variety of artwork we showcase strikes a chord with so many collectors and we are so proud to have our artwork featured in so many beautiful homes and corporate offices.”
